TAKE A TOUR. She Farms Apex is offering tours of seven women-run farms on Saturday, April 15, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Advance registration is required with a cost of $25 per carload. Visitors can tour the farms, enjoy the landscape and learn about local agriculture. All the farm tours begin at the top and bottom of each hour and require walking.
INSIDE LOOK. Join the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences for the Museum Untold Tour this Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m.–noon. Experience exhibits like an insider. Listen to stories only the museum’s staff members know. (What’s buried under the floor in the dinosaur exhibit, for example?) Discover hidden details among the dioramas. The walking portion lasts two hours. Guests younger than 18 are not permitted on this tour and groups are limited to 10 participants. Purchase tickets here.

FASHION AND STYLE. Designed For Joy’s Classic Collection handbag line will be featured on the Home Shopping Network in early October. The initial order of 1,650 handbags will support Designed For Joy’s mission to provide support for women in crisis through employment and support, removing the stigma of vulnerability.

FENTON ADDITIONS. Hines and Columbia Development have announced three additions to Fenton in Cary Thursday: Lighting and home goods store Rejuvenation; full-service nail salon Nail Kitchen; and facial bar Face Foundrié. Artists Ansen Seale, Taylor White and the North Carolina State University Wilson College of Textiles students are curating art there now for the community to enjoy. In collaboration with Marjorie Hodges of Artsuite, White is bringing mini murals to Fenton’s floors called “Traces of our Time.”
NEW MENU. The Studio at Unscripted Durham has rolled out a new menu of light bites and spring-inspired cocktails. Highlights include blackened fries served with a chipotle sauce and coconut shrimp served with a Thai chili sauce. The Dirty Durham Martini (Grey Goose, dry vermouth, olive brine, Tabasco sauce and a pinch of salt) and the Pretty Paloma (el Jimador tequila, lime juice and a tangy grapefruit juice) are among the new cocktail offerings.
CANINE COCKTAILS. Olde Raleigh Distillery hosts Smooches for Pooches on Saturday, April 8, 6–9 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for Pawfect Match Rescue and Rehabilitation featuring music, food, an auction and more. Admission is $25. Pets are welcome, and dog cocktails will be served.
CLOTHING SWAP. Speaking of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, its first Kids’ Outdoor Clothing/Gear Swap kicked off April 1. To participate, drop new or lightly used kids’ outdoor clothing or gear into a collection bin at the entrance kiosk of Prairie Ridge Ecostation. The swap comes full circle on April 22, when participants can come to the museum between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to pick up items for their famlies to use.
MIXOLOGY IN DURHAM. The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club and JB Duke Hotel will host the Be Our Guest Bartender Series throughout April, inviting the Triangle’s top mixologists to share specialty cocktail creations with hotel guests. On Wednesdays at the Inn’s Bull Durham Bar and Thursdays at JB Duke Hotel’s Lobby Lounge from 4–6 p.m., guest bartenders will create drinks that will be on the menu the following week. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to each bartender’s local nonprofit organization of choice.
